Airworthiness Certificate issued for N629SX

Postby ScottM-Sonex1629 » Wed May 18, 2016 2:20 pm

It's hard to believe I completed my build (enough) and passed my FAA inspection today. It was really a non-event, after sending the information in electronically and talking with the ASI assigned by the Columbus FSDO several times via phone. When he first arrived today, he said lets sit and talk, and we proceeded to discuss dogs/rescue dogs and how they impact our lives. The paperwork review and walk around inspection took about 45 mins. Everything was printed ready for signature today once he was satisfied with the work!

Just a little more fine tuning in the engine and I can turn focus to the first flight and Phase 1 testing!

Congratulations Scott! You started your build a month after my first flight. Seems like yesterday. My how time flys when you are building or flying your Sonex. You are going to have a blast flying your new Sonex! I can't help but think of all the folks just starting a new Sonex kit as you are test flying yours. I wish you the best with your phase 1 flights.

Congratulations! I am glad you were able to complete your build. Now take time to enjoy the fruits of your hard work. Have fun with your first flight!
I had my inspection on 3/24 and my first flight on 3/30. I know how excited you must be.
The DAR doing my inspection showed up with two FAA inspectors with him. At first I was a little concerned. Then I found out that one of them was on the National Kit Evaluation Team who was going to be doing the evaluation of the new B models. He said he wanted to see a completed original model Sonex before he saw the new model. We ended up spending a lot of time talking about how my build went and the support that I got from Sonex. The DAR did his inspection of my Sonex while I chatted with the FAA inspectors. The DAR then went through all the paper work with me. It turned out to be a very pleasant process.

Have fun with your flight testing.
