I'm on the road right now but I'll check mid week when I get home. I'm not sure but I may have a few extras. Those are the thin plates under the rocker assembly?

I'm sure I do. Have to remember to dig through my parts stash when I get home. Free99 if I have the right size. Think they come in three different thicknesses.

They will be used if I have them.

Round stainless steel washers have done the trick in the past for me as well. You can get different thicknesses at your favorite aircraft parts store. Make sure they have a large enough diameter.

Be careful of adding too many spacers. I saw evidence of the adjusting screws hitting the valve cover. I since have shortened my push rods and removed spacers. It is not difficult to shorten push rods. The nipple end is very hard and you can't damage it. I chuck the nipple in my drill press just above the top edge of the tube, with the bottom end in a hole in a hard board. You can use a hack saw blade or the edge of a small thin file to remove the metal just below the nipple. Some of the saber saw blades are different thicknesses. When you break through the tube you won't even scratch the nipple. Then drive the nipple back down in the tube. It takes about an hour to do four push rods. Removing .020 to .030 of tube length is worth one of two shims.

If you can't get them from Sonex in the future you can order them from bugcity.com. It is a local VW shop by me that does mostly mail order parts and doesn't have a problem selling to airplane guys. A pack of 12 shims is $10.95. Part number 21-2310.
