Hi Everyone,
Ron Sipple and I visited Sonex this weekend and saw the new B. Here are some photos I took.

There are some very interesting changes under the seat that we did not get to see at SnF. The bottom of the control stick, especially.

Bob,

Great photos. I had not seen the change to the cross tie box beam at the rear of the cockpit. That one inch alone will make a great deal of difference in comfort.

Another item I like is the electric flap. For those interested, it looks like the same part I have in my RV-14A from Van's, which is the same flap drive motor in the RV-10.

Also I like to see customer inspired ideas like the double notched canopy latch. I don't know if you originated it Bob, but you sure popularized it if not.

I think the B model is a great advance for Sonex. Thanks again for all the photos.

Anyone know why the top of the main bulkhead just behind the seat has been changed??

When I got the preview in early March while doing T-Flight, it was explained the seat back changes place the upper body back farther and with the changes to the turtledeck former you are asking about it gives more leg room and shoulder room.

Great detail photos of the major innovations in the B Model.
I believe first of all, being a non engineer, the B model addresses a nagging concern I've had for several years. Seat "crush" integrity in the event of a mishap.
The simple addition of the 4 ribs is a huge improvement in the suspended seat pan. This adds so much more crush area. Not enough to not be able to give way, but enough to help cushion an impact.
It would be my feeling that this is a way huge safety improvement in the Sonex line? Just my personal perspective. I would love to be able to incorporate some element of this design in hindsight. Probably not practical?
Also with years of experience, I believe the single stick makes more sense. I didn't feel that way 6-8 yrs ago during the build. I do now.
