Has anyone purchased aftermarket spark plug wires from a performance shop and can recommend?
(for the lower plugs)

I replaced a couple with generic wires from O'Reilly Auto Parts, the originals got too close to the exhaust and burned the covering. They have worked fine so far.

I used Accel Superstock wires for the bottom and top wires. The bottoms are carbon core, the tops have to be copper core to work with the Aerovee magnatrons.

Mike, do you have Part Numbers or they just generic. I'll also check out O'Reilly's.
Looked at the top Wires and they appear to be permanently attached ??

Thanks

I'm also interested in Mike's top plug wires. My primary ignition creates some annoying interference when I'm listening to distant transmissions. I finally convinced myself that the noise is coming from the wires when I disconnected the p-leads from the magnetrons completely and still got the noise (I was concerned it might have been the p-leads since they are in a bundle with all the other wires coming through the firewall). Mike, have you run the stock wires to tell if the ignition noise changed with the new wires?

I will have to go out to the hangar and get the part numbers as the top and bottom are different numbers.

No, they are not permanently attached. I will grab one of my 3 old magnetrons that failed and take pics of how to replace them.

Yes, I was chasing radio noise demons for a long time, which was the reason I decided to try them. These wires helped the noise immensely. I still get a little noise at full throttle but not nearly as bad as before. At lower RPM's I get very little, if any, noise now. Plus I think they look cool. I went with the yellow because that is what was in stock at the time and I didn't care much if they were yellow, red or blue...

I have found that the NGK spark have helped reduce the ignition noise to an acceptable level for me. I can still hear it when I do my mag check a little, but don't notice it in flight. Before it was very annoying.

I bought Ford tractor wires on Ebay when I needed replacements. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2505706361 ... noapp=true
