Upper firewall flange SNX-F17-03

Started to work on this part and read many threads about changing/adjusting the flutes so the holes In the windshield strap have a flat area for the rivets to mate to. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems going this route would be very difficult. What about just making tabs by cutting the flutes? That way there would be a nice flat area and not a rippled/bent/ugly area for the southco's and rivets.

Fuselage former #5 is a good example of doing it this way.

Thoughts?

Darick,
The minus of the tabs is it is easier for the fire to get through. I did tabs on my hummelbird and wish I didn't. Tweaking the flutes is not bad.

The SS firewall bends WAY easier than it cuts. That said, if you do cuts you can always fill with RTV just like all the other gaping holes around the edge of the firewall.

After fiddling with this part for way too long trying to move flutes, I simply marked where I wanted flutes, then stood the part on edge and pounded out all the flutes turning the part into a big banana, then put in flutes were wanted. SS stands up to this treatment well, but do not use same on 6061-T6.
