Mode C or Mode S

I am ordering my panel tomorrow which consists of a MGL Discovery Lite, V6 radio and transponder. The later is the question.
Which transponder would you use? I am looking at the Sandia 165R remote transponder. The issue I have is that this is a mode C transponder.

With the 2020 mandate only 4.5 years away and requiring a mode S with a WAAS GPS TSOd, what transponder would you use that can be controlled remote through my MGL Lite?

Thanks for your thoughts. Josh

I am using the same transponder and will be using a WAAS equipped UAT from Navworks. The UAT recommends a mode c transponder.

I spent a lot of time with Matt from MGL yesterday. What an incredible guy and team. I want to give him a plug, so here it is: "buy from Matt, he's the best".

Turns out he has a TT22 transponder that is 2020 compliant and its $300 cheaper than aircraft spruce. So now I have mode S linked to my discovery lite and am 2020 compliant. I was unaware that the two together meet the 2020 mandate. Wanted to share this bit of info in case others are looking at buying or upgrading their panels soon.
