Have you looked at the AeroVee assembly manual yet? If not see if you can borrow one from the seller. You can also buy one from Sonex. It's very well written and takes you step-by-step through everything you'll need to know. After reading it you will probably feel ready to remove and replace a cylinder; or rebuild the whole engine for that matter.
The same is true for the AeroCarb manual. I recommend that you learn how to do your own AeroCarb adjustments. It's fairly easy to do, you just need someone to lead you through it the first time.
There are many Sonex builders/pilots in your area that might be willing to help out with a prepurchase inspection. I live in Mt. Pocono, PA and fly out of Blairstown, NJ (1N7) and would be willing to take a look and give you my opinion.
