Leave of Absence

Postby Fastcapy » Tue Feb 24, 2015 1:52 am

Everyone can relax, I am going to be taking a leave of absence from posting to the group for the time being. However, I will probably still linger in the background to see what is going on with other builders and progress on their projects.

My intent is/was not to make life hard for the moderators, only to share my personal experiences of building and flying my Aerovee powered Sonex, good or bad and to give insight as a former Sonex employee.

Happy flying!

Mike,

How much you post on the forums is certainly up to you, but before you decide to leave for a while allow me to make a few things clear.

I have a bad feeling that words are being misread and thoughts are being misinterpreted so please allow me to speak on behalf of the moderators.

The purpose of these forums is to provide a location for accurate technical knowledge on our airplanes. It's very important to have a large wealth of knowledge for people who may be having issues during the build of their projects. We want to offer a spot for people to freely discuss issues they may be having, as well as a location for people to talk about their flying and building adventures. I think we can all agree that having forums such as this can to be invaluable to builders or perspective builders alike.

What we do NOT want is a place for people to come and post unsupported or biased opinions about the airplane, other builders, or the factory. We all have our own personal stories of good and bad, but most of those stories have no place on here. For those who remember the old Yahoo! Groups, towards the end there were hardly any legitimate or useful posts being made; most of it was simple name calling and mud slinging. We will NOT stand for that here!

Let me phrase things another way: we expect everyone to be respectful of eachother!

Mike, you have built and are now flying your airplane and in my opinion, this makes you and excellent person to contribute to the board. I'm sure builders have questions you can help answer and I hope you consider helping in that regard. What we do not want to see from anyone, however, are comments intended to "bash" other members or the factory. And I'm not accusing you; this goes for everyone.

I hope this makes sense, and I really hope everyone agrees with the environment we're trying to maintain here. If anyone has questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to message myself or any other moderator.

Thanks guys!
