Inflate tires without removing or modifying wheel pants?

Postby gammaxy » Fri Jan 30, 2015 12:47 am

Has anyone figured out a technique for inflating tires without removing the wheelpants or adding a hole to them?

I can easily reach the valve stem with my fingers and it seems with a right angle adapter or a low form-factor pump I should be able to inflate the tires.

I use a flexible extension. It screws onto the valve stem and is about 6 inches long. Then inflate from the end of the extension. I think I got it from an auto parts store.

I have 7/8" dia. holes drilled in my wheel pants, but found a pair of black snap plugs in my junk bin that just fit those holes, sit almost flush, Have not fallen out, and the black does not stand out on my dark blue wheel pants. Made custom inflation chuck to reach down those holes by taking guts from cheap angled type and installing into piece of 5/8" dia. brass drilled and tapped to suit.
