Thanks for the encouraging and entertaining story Dale!

As I push through the last 25-30% of my build, I am quiet fortunate to have made a great new friend over the last year who has a very nice example of the Waiex, now equipped with The Rotec LCH mod. Jab. 3300. We woke early this fine "Boxing Day" morning and also broke the surely bounds of earth and proceeded to punch holes in the winter sky here in the birthplace of Aviation (Ohio).

Thanks for the story, and thanks to my great Friend Steve for letting me build some hours in his Waiex today!

Excellent story Dale! Loved reading of your adventure and I can't wait to get my engine back together so I can join you! When are you going to fly Myunn up to Oshkosh??

Scott I need to get you up in the Express for a while. After flying an airplane as "stable" (i.e., heavy) as the Express, you'll LOVE the way the Sonex/Waiex flies! It's like going from a Ford F150 to a Corvette!

'Twas the day before Christmas, when all thro' the hangar
Not a creature was stirring, not even the six banger;

The headphones were hung by the canopy with care,
In hopes that the Waiex soon would be in the air;

The engine was pre-heating, warm air for her heads,
While the tank was topped off with some really fresh low lead;

With me doing pre-flight and Jake clearing snow,
We mounted our stallion and smiled with a glow;

The Jabiru awoke and roared with a clatter,
My eyes scanned the panel to see what's the matter;

The gauges all moved from just red to the green,
Adjusted the mixture to be perfect lean.

A touch to the throttle and the beast surged the sled,
She knew that a flight would soon be ahead;

The canopy closed and the checklist complete,
A quick look at Jake confirmed the flight would be sweet;

As we roared down the runway, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, I felt like St. Nick;

Now dash away, dash away, dash away all.
The tail has lifted and all cares will fall;

The Waiex has climbed to her perch in the sky,
The smiles on our faces could not tell a lie;

We flew in this sleigh, giving the pattern a whistle,
And away we just flew, like the down of a thistle;

And they heard us exclaim, as we flew out of sight —
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good flight.

Great story! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to finish my plane. I only fly enough to stay proficient. I am putting all my money into my project.
