I'm about to complete my windshield installation.
I followed the plans and tapped the holes in the bow for machine screws. Given were not allowed to use Loctite here, how do we make sure the screws will remain in place?

Mine are tapped into the bow and have not had one loosen yet. Same with the sides, they are tapped into the side rails. I check them at annual to make sure they are still snug.

If my memory serves correctly. The machine screws require a 3/32" UNF thread which has a 60 degree thread angle. I tapped the bows with a 3/32" BSF tap which has a 55 degree thread angle with same pitch. This created an interference fit between the thread and the screw. Still screws in and out OK, no locking required.

My holes are tapped as per plans, can't change that anymore.
I'll just make sure I check the screws before every flight, if I notice they start coming loose I can still drill through and install a longer screw with nut on the other side. Not a difficult post-first-flight adjustment.

I always keep about 10 spare washers and screws in my hangar , I have lost about 6 or so till I took them all out and put a very small dab of black rtv silicone and they have yet to come loose , I have heard to avoid lock tite cause it causes crazing , around the screws ,

I ended up through drilling all the windshield and canopy screws and using a lock nut. 79 hours over 15 months, no problems.
