Sonex Backorders

Postby saddler » Thu May 22, 2014 9:03 pm

Is it common for everything to be back ordered from Sonex? When I exchanged my motor mount and cowling, it took over 3 months to get the replacements. As of today, I have been waiting 2 months for the hydraulic aero brake kit. It is getting kind of frustrating. I try to order things way in advance to account for this but this seems a bit ridiculous. Just curious if this is normal?

It happens. They fabricate very few things at the "factory". Outsource most of it. Very small company and not a lot of stock.
If you ever visited the warehouse, you'd understand why. It just isn't that big. Must be a real nightmare trying to plan production runs. I read they just expanded the warehouse though.

I waited over a month for my Aeroinjector as they had some supplier issues. I recently ordered a replacement wheel pant and was told it was backordered. Anticipating a long wait, I appealed to the group here and two builders offered theirs. Then got an email today saying Sonex was shipping my pant. So I guess they just got them in.

But they always delivered. Eventually.

The news on the sonex website shows that they just put on a pretty big addition to their warehouse. Hopefully that will solve some of the issues going forward.
