I have never tried clamping hose clamps directly to the axles, it would probably damage the powder coating. I use the 2 hose clamps on the titanium rod. Just to be clear, I never trust this hose clamp arrangement to hold the aircraft up for any length of time whilst doing maintenance. I lift, remove wheel then chock immediately. It is what it is. Simple, cheap and light.
If I were to use your clever jacking method, on the standard Sonex axles. I'd probably either weld a small tab to the bottom of the axles. Or, utilize the 3/16" brake bolt somehow. I'm sure it wont be too difficult to come up with something.
This was my version 1 jacking point bracket, hose clamped to the titanium. I later discovered the hose clamps alone worked equally as well.
