Her's another likely dumb question. What is the advantage of using a taper pin in that assembly? What's wrong with a bolt and nut?

I guess it just makes a real snug connection that won't possibly loosen later and create any slop. I didn't know any of this existed until I encountered it on the plans!

Thanks, an interesting read.
However, my personal OCD requires a bolt head on one side and a nut and washer on the other! I just know that slippery little bastard would escape with no bolt head!! I would have to check it 25 times a day!! ;-)

I am done using the reamer. Its a bit dull. It looks like someone may have run it backwards, but it still works. I just need an address to ship it to.

I'll add that after a few hundred hours of flight time, I began to notice a very small amount of slop/play (1/16th's of an inch) between my dual control sticks with left/right movement. All it took to make them snug again was to tighten the taper pin nuts very slightly and it cinched up the pin to where I'm probably good for another few thousand aileron inputs. Therefore, even the taper pin fit can degrade with use but likely at a rate that is a small fraction of a typical straight bolt. This is something to note for the mixer where play is not to be had.
