When I disconnected the antenna at the radio, most of the noise went away, so it must be through the air and not the wiring. My RG-58 coax to the antenna is well-grounded (tested with ohmmeter), so this means I have to better shield the primary ignition, or move the antenna (from the turtledeck near the canopy) toward the tail.

How well grounded is your antenna? At Sikorsky we had no paint under the antenna mounts, just Alodine. With 6061 I would leave it bare. Easy for us polish guys.
