Gear Legs Bent

Postby Stauffer » Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:26 am

I just noticed that the gear legs on my Xenos are bent some (and not the same on each side). Is there an acceptable amount of bent or should they be replaced?

I had to look twice to see the bend right where they exit the engine mount. Hard landing?

My sonex had bent gear for the previous owner nosing over in a soft field. I called the factory and asked them the same question. Was told that no ammount of bend is acceptable but that some folks have straightened them and that is ok. That's what I did. Tied them (important) down on a HFrieght 20 ton press and straightened them. Had to bend them quite a bit past straight to get the rebend to stick.

Here is a picture of what my gear legs looked like. I did get them straight after several tries.
