Has anybody successfully installed an auto pilot in their Sonex “A” model

Yes. I have a Trio EZ autopilot:

Single axis wing leveler. It can fly a 180° if needed, will do GPS tracks, and intercepts if the course had to be deviated from. It makes cross country flying easier.

I have a trio 2 axis Propilot for a few years. Servos fit under the seat and allows me to take my hands off the stick to look at the ipad or relax a little. Tracks gps course from the MGL Enigma but uses an internal altimeter.

hi ,
yes i have a dynon 7in efis skyview in panel
roll and pitch servos. dynon sells the servos and install/mounting kits also
specifically for legacy a models sonex.

I use mgl servos driven via canbus from an MGL extreme. It can follow the gps or just heading and altitude.

David,

I have the GRT Mini X and autopilot servos. It works well in smooth air but not so well when it’s rough. It seems slow to respond and then over controls. Would you be willing to share what settings you use to have a smooth flight?
