canopy screen to control sun brilliance

Postby Ed Perkins » Fri Jul 01, 2016 10:51 am

I have an 8" Samsung Tablet with the Avare Software on it serving as my primary navigation system. I tried it out this week and found out that the sunlight coming into the canopy is so bright I can't read the tablet screen and therefore can't utilize this system.
QUESTION: Where can I purchase some kind of screen material to decrease the sunlight coming into the cockpit so I can read my tablet Avare software? Is this material able to be moved around AFTER install? I suspect I may need to move it to some extent to deal with where the sun is setting. I have seen something advertised in I believe Iowa several years ago that was a screen material that went on the inside of the bubble canopy.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Walmart or any auto parts store will have what you need. They are called window clings. They come in different sizes but all of them are basically a shaded plastic type of material that will stick to the canopy by static cling. They are meant to be used on a car window to keep the sun off of little kids in the back seat. I bought two 15x15 pieces for less than $15 and they work awesome. Moving them around in flight is possible but it is easier to do if you have a passenger to move them or you can turn on an autopilot as it usually takes two hands to move and position them into place. Here is a link to what I am referring to:
