Lowered Seat Question

Postby Andy Walker » Wed Mar 07, 2012 10:15 am

Hey All...

I got my (lowered) seat pan drilled and clecoed, but I have a question about the bottom rear hinge (the hidden one behind the seat)...

All my dimensions and cuts have been checked and verified, so I don't think I have a dimensional problem. But the hinge passes past the center of the seat back opening, as shown here:

It's not doing any good there, and it interferes with reaching the seat hinge removal pins. I'm guessing I should just cut that center section out of the hinge, making it into two hinge sections, which would solve all of these problems. But I don't see anything in the plans to that effect, and I don't want to hose something up. Suggestions?

My plans are 4000 nm away but I'm pretty sure that area is cut out, Andy...

Thanks Kip...I don't really see any other way it could work, but as I said I didn't see a notation in the plans (doesn't mean I didn't just miss it, of course). I'm just going to chop it. The worst that could happen is that I'll have to make a new hinge piece, not a disaster.

I'm fairly certain mine was the same way. That way, both hinges were parallel when you insert the hinge pins to lock the seat in place. Just mark and remove the unused part of the hinge and you're good to go!!

I found the plans notation on this...that part gets removed as we thought.
