I am just throwing out a suggestion here-how about some stickers we can put on our Sonex planes-Jeremy and Mike's name on some wings that we can attach to our aircraft so whenever we go flying, their spirit is with us. We could charge say $10.00 for the decal and the profits would go to a scholarship at the Tech School Mike went to or EAA Foundation in their names. Just brainstorming here-hope some artistic type can pick it up the idea and improve on it.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I'm not the artsy person we need, but I could certainly find room on my Sonex for some stickers to memorialize and honor Jeremy and Mike.

I also think some sort of decal that could be put on the plane would be a great idea to remember them.

The Foundation would like to honor Jeremy and Mike in the best way the family sees fit.

I do think a decal for our aircraft is a tasteful way of doing so also. Several of us also thought a massive turnout of Sonex aircraft at AirVenture would be good.

Lets wait and see what the families wishes are and proceed from there. Blue skies...

This event has been hard on everyone. I cannot imagine the Monnett's and Sonex Co grief. Hopefully the root cause will come out and we all can learn from this. This year at Oshkosh will be hard. I cannot imagine not seeing Jeremy at the seminars, flight line, Sunday homecoming, Monday hangar party. What a tragic loss. This is beyond belief. Robbie the stickers for our planes a great idea. Is this something the SBPF would want to do to generate some funds? Maybe the SBPF could present to Sonex the stickers for their aircraft at the Monday hangar get together at OSH to show our solidarity. Hope this Sunday is a beautiful day in Oshkosh to celebrate his life. I'm sure all of us will be in spirit at the EAA Eagle hangar.
Take care,

I came across this poem today written by Pilot Officer John Gallespie Magee, Jr. 1922 - 1941. He wrote on the back of a letter he sent home to his parents. He said he started it at 30,000 feet and finished it by the time he landed. It move me and I thought I would share it. Peace be with you Jeremy and Mike.

HIGH FLIGHT
by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Please let us know if there's a fund to contribute to their families.

I didn't plan on making it this year but, if this happens, I will do everything I possibly can to be a part of it.
