It's been months of researching, learning from everyone on this board and searching the market, but I can officially say today that I own a Sonex!

I want to first give a special thanks to Bill. Bill, without your help and patience I would never have been able to buy with confidence. You have already taught me so much and I am in debt to you.

I now have a Sonex tri gear with an Aerovee 2002 engine. The air frame is mostly complete, the engine needs assembly, and I have to build out the firewall forward, panel and all controls.

I'm going to begin with some planning:
To sell the 2002 for a 2.1 turbo or add the turbo to the 2002?
Selling the new prop for a turbo prop.
Selling the stratomaster and associated units for a Dynon Skyview or MGL Lite?
1 or 2 landing lights?
Factory brakes or hydraulic brakes?
Add the extended tank now or later?

So many decisions which add nice features but also weight.

Congrats!

If the 2002 isn't assembled yet, probably a simple matter of buying the parts to make it a 2.1. Shouldn't have to start from scratch.
Stratomaster is an MGL product so a Discovery Lite would let you use many of the components (RADC, AHARS, ect) if you have those.
Lights are always good for visibility.
I found the factory brakes to be sufficient when I flew the factory Waiex last week.
No clue on the tank.

Good luck and welcome to the sickness.

First off welcome to the disease. Congratulations on the find and best of luck on the completion...should not take too long. And if you thought you had questions before Ha! I'll try to keep the phone charged as I know I'm on your speed dial. I'm excited to see you get started. As soon as I'm airworthy I'll get up and peruse the parts.
