Video Edit Software

I now have a GoPro that saves in MP4 format. I'm looking for descent editing software for under $100. I've done a little research and "CyberLink PowerDirector 13" has gotten good reviews for power vs simplicity. Does anyone have any experience with this software and would you recommend it? Or is anyone using something else they like that is under the $100 mark?

I have started using Lightworks free version. It takes some practice, but it is pretty powerful as it is a professional level editor. Once you get the hang of it though it is great.

No 1080p output with the free version seems to be the biggest downside.

Thanks for the suggestion. When it comes to video editing, I'm sure they all take some practice :-) Then again, time is something I have right now. I'm in snowy New England where we've had nearly 6' of snow in the last 3 weeks! And more is on the way later this week. I'm a skier so I tend to like snow, but sheesh! It's a bad year to tie down your aircraft in this area!

I have been using Pinacle Studio ultimate for years. Easy to use if you understand video editing and has a lot of bang for the buck. In your price range and you can upgrade and spend more if you like it. I am now using their version 16.

I decided to go with the CyberLink PowerDirector 13 (Ultimate). I'll be sure to let everyone know how it works out. Thanks everyone for your input. I did check out the reviews of all the software suggested.

I've tried many free video editors in Linux without much satisfaction--Avidemux, Blender, Openshot, Pitivi, Cinelerra, etc. Yesterday I tried Kdenlive and am extremely happy with it. I mostly just trim videos for uploading to Youtube, but it seems to be pretty capable with a decent selection of filters and transitions. It also seems fairly simple to use.
