I remember when David Clay was building that plane. I flew down to see him (and others) in my old Sonex. His scratch built parts were prettier than my factory parts :-) It started out with a Hummel 2400, was sold, and the new owner swapped to a Corvair. Would be interesting to know exactly what happened. All three prop blades were damaged.

Hi all,
Just talked to phil davis who used to own that plane. He indicated that the pilot was very experienced did a good
job with the landing on road. unfortunely didnt see a wire strung across rd., so that took out the prop and spinner.
phil said pilot thinks the alt., and or battery gave out. The corvair needs external power to run.
Good to see not much damage.

fly safe!

To put that in a frame of reference, the ignition system for Corvair per WW requires approximately 0.7 amps at 12V.
