The Old Station is just a farm airstrip about 40 km west of Gladstone on the Queensland coast but it is run by aviation enthusiasts and each year they host a fly-in and air show. This year they even attracted the Australian Air Force precision aerobatic team making it a pretty big deal for a little country airfield with a grass runway. For me it was a 1900 NM round trip but I managed to fit in a family visit too. You can read my blog at http://www.ansoneng.com/sample-page/sonex-trips/old-station-fly-in-raglan-queensland/
I covered similar ground last year on my trip to Rockhampton but I have spiced this up with some new "alternative facts."

No problems starting. My engine has an original "old type" feeble starter motor. I do carry a booster pack battery with me but have only ever needed it once. I also carry a little fold-up solar panel that can sit on the glare shield and maintain battery charge via an accessory socket while the aircraft is parked for any time. Not sure if it's doing much though.
