Because we're not allowed to reply to the Sonex-originated threads, I have to ask...where is Joe? :o

Georgia and a lot of the southeast USA has been socked in for days now. Hopefully, he made it out of Wisconsin.

I might just fly down if the sun comes out...

Good question Kip,

I wondered that as well (about Joe's progress). I believe the AeroVee Turbo demonstrator is N123SX (based upon the video Jeremy made showing the performance of this engine)...so I checked on any status via flight aware and can find no flight plan filed for the trip.

Hopefully he makes it okay and we get some real world experience report of the performance for the trip to Sebring.

Joe stopped last night in Marion, IL for the night. I'm not sure where he is now but I think the hope was to make good progress today based on forecast conditions for tomorrow through southern GA and northern FL.

I'm also excited to hear how the trip goes and how the new engine does! If I catch any updates I'll advise. Hopefully Joe can chime in here as well!

Update: Joe is at Corinth, MS at this point. Ceilings are low futher south so I'm not sure how much additional progress poor Joe will make.

I too am looking forward to hearing real world cross country numbers from Joe... I received my Turbo kit yesterday and need to decide on a prop...

Anyone remember which prop the demonstrator has installed?? I'm leaning toward the climb prop as the cruise speed appears to still be impressive and I believe it would be a bit less stress on the engine??

Bruce,

Take a look on the Sonex website and pull up the ordering form for propellers. You will find two models of Snesneich prop available, a "climb" and a "cruise". I think the climb is a 54 x 50", and the cruise is a 56 x 52". The order form will specify what the exact models are.

Yup, that is the decision! ;-)

It's been sub zero up here in central Iowa for most of the last few weeks, so understand why Joe didn't leave earlier. Today was "t-shirt" weather, was 20f when I left for work this morning at 7:00am!
