NACA Ducts or Lexan Vents

I am getting close to starting the build on my cowling. So thinking about NACA Ducts. Then it hit me that I will need air in cockpit. I have looked at other Waiex and found mostly NACA Vents on the side. I have also seen some very interesting vents on the Lexan over the front. My question is NACA or Lexan Vents? I live in Central Florida, HOT all the time. I'm building at South Lakeland Airport X49. Thanks in advance for everyone's help. Nick

Hi Nick, Randy here.
I believe I purchased a Waiex tail kit from you.
I installed a NACA inlet on the pilot's side of our plane with all it's plumbing and the ball vent taking up way to much space on the instrument panel. My wife didn't want air blowing directly in her face, so I installed a Van's vent on her side down by the knees.
The NACA vent was largely ineffective but you had to hold onto the paper work if you opened her Van's vent. I ended up putting in another Van's on the pilot's side.
I already have the Van's vents prepped and ready for install in the second Waiex. No NACA vents in sight.

I find my NACA vents blow a lot less air than I had hoped.

Here is an enhancement I made for my vents. It's two pieces riveted together and it hooks on the back edge of the NACA vent. It might stay on without tape but I'm not sure.

You can't beat the Van's Vents for performance and price. In the Onex with one on each side about knee high there was no need for a sunshade if you wear a hat.

I used Van's SV-1 NACA vents feeding black plastic eyeball vents on my A series Sonex. They really do blast air when fully opened. Might not be quite as effective on the B series Sonex with its straight sides.
