The First 1000 Hours

I'm posting this in the "Waiex" forum, but it could just as well be in the Jabiru section. I have crossed the 1000-hour mark with the original airframe and engine. I like to keep good records and enjoy the resulting statistics for operational information.

Total tach time hours (“engine on” time): 1000
Total Hobbs Time (taxi and flight) hours: 954
Total Miles (GPS odometer): 111585 statute miles
Operational timeframe: May 20, 2010 – April 19, 2022

Engine (Jabiru 3300A, #1637) AeroShell 15W-50, Napa 1394 oil filter, NGK D9EA plugs, K&N air filter, AeroCarb
Oil changed and analysis done every 25 tach hours, new spark plugs every 50 hours
Maintenance other than oil/plugs/filters/compression checks, ect.
-198 hrs - new exhaust springs, others replaced on condition about every 200 hours
-298 hrs - new ignition caps, rotors
-598 hrs – added washer at relief spring for more oil pressure, new ignition caps, rotors
-778 hrs– new alternator stator and voltage regulator
-850 hrs– replaced ignition coils, new alternator stator under warranty from Jabiru

Airframe (Waiex W0082) Kit delivered February 2007, First flight May, 2010
General maintenance items other than Condition Inspection items-
-141 hrs – upgraded tailwheel and bracket
-161 hrs - removed ventral fin because of taxi damage
-224 hrs - new tires, changed landing gear bolts to cadmium plated from stainless steel
-249 hrs – installed upgraded, larger tailwheel and bracket
-275 hrs – performed Sonex SB 001 (tail modification)
-299 hrs – installed new Prince propeller
-312 hrs – new battery
-399 hrs – new brake pads
-496 hrs – new tires
-555 hrs – performed Sonex SB 002 (new rudder cables)
-700 hrs – replaced Shaw gas cap
-723 hrs – new tires and brake pads
-778 hrs – new battery
-830 hrs – installed GDL 82 ADS-B equipment, new comm and transponder antennas
-900 hrs – new tires

The Jabiru manual calls for a top overhaul at 1000 hours. I have ordered a new engine rather than perform the top overhaul as I have not done any of the engine updates that have been issued. I plan to sell the original engine when I get the new one and that will likely be cheaper overall versus overhauling and updating the old engine.
A new engine has been on order since October 2021 and there is no firm date for the shipment of the new one so I will keep on flying #1637. All of the compressions are good and the oil analysis is clean.
