Just checked my plane and all four cables qualify for replacement. I sent my pictures to Sonex. My kit was a 2007. #116.

Sorry to hear that!
My kit is #0056 and I believe it's an early '06 kit. I was at my hangar last night when the SB email came through so I immediately checked mine.
3 of the 4 sleeves have at least 1/16" of cable proud of the end of the sleeve, and the 4th one has the cable close to flush (flush or just slightly proud) to the end of the sleeve. After reading the SB instructions, I saw that, in cases where the cable is flush with the end of the sleeve, that is still serviceable and is not a safety concern.
With that in mind I have no issues with my cables and plan on continuing to operate as normal. I sent Sonex pictures last night of my cables but have yet to hear a response.
Hopefully this doesn't affect many people!

All of my cables were not proud. The ends where at least ⅛ inch inside the swage.

Two of mine are well recessed. Two are about flush.

Hi All,
Went flying yesterday and visually checked the Nicopress in order to make sure they are serviceable.
I can say the cables are protruding from the swage, but cannot say by how much.
My Waiex has S/N W0026, ordered back in 2004.
Hope this SB do not affect too many of us.
Have Safe Fun!

Hi Sosthene,
took a look at your website, a lot of interesting projects. I'm building a Waiex, look forward to talking about it as the build progresses.

All 4 of my cables qualify. Sonex said they would send new cables ASAP.

Hello
I also qualify for new rudder cables, Sonex will send new ones when they can. I started removing the old cables today. What a PITA. To remove the cables, the pullies have to be disassembled. Had to crawl into the fuselage after removing my baggage sling. Finally got the front ones out. My problem now is the rear cables. They run through the fair leads, which have to be disassembled to get the aft end of cable out. The only access to the fair leads is through the top aft fuselage inspection hole just aft of the turtle deck. The little clip that holds the fair lead halves together is forward of the verticle channel and cannot be seen, and you can only get one hand through the inspection hole. Any suggestions? Anyone else gone there yet? I can cut the cables to remove then, but I will still need to install the new ones.
The fair leads cannot be reached through the mixer access panel. I hope I have explained what has to be accomplished. All this was installed without the bottom skin of the fuselage and we had plenty of access. I have painted, and really don't want to remove the bottom skin. The factory is closed for the holiday and I'm hoping someone has an idea.
Thanks in advance
John

Just got email confirmation on my replacements being shipped from Sonex.
I was hoping to be able to run them through the pulleys without taking them apart. The aft ones can because there is no pulley, but not sure of the forward pedal to mixer ones. I also hope they are the same length, otherwise I'll need to fabricate new connecting plates to the pedals.
Oh well, I need a project.

Just checked my rudder cables per SB-002.
All four cables have a little over 1/16" of cable protruding from the sleeves.
I guess I lucked out on this SB. After complying with SB-001 I was not looking forward to doing any more work in the tail cone.
My aircraft is serial number 49.
