Kip,
Is it just a light press fit into the phenolic? Another advantage of my opportunity (having forgotten to plumb the wing and provide a pitot-static mount) is that stuff will not be in the way for installing wings.

Yes, Brian. The 5/16" tube slides (twists, really) into the phenolic as a tight "press fit". After drilling the phenolic for the tube, I found that I had to sand down the pitot tube in a lathe a couple of thousands for the right friction for a tight fit. I thought that if it ever became loose from too many in-and-outs, I could always count on getting a new tube and still have some room to adjust for a tight fit. My pitot still slides in with the same friction after six years.

Here Adam is copying Kip's idea. The tube I have on hand is 1/4" OD, same size as my ACS wing mounted pitot.

No worries Kip! Any thoughts on my 1/4" OD vs your 5/16" OD tube? I am thinking it is unimportant. Also did you choose the RH side for any technical reason? Finally I assume the plastic tube is from Home Depot's aviation aisle. Plastic all the way forward?

Bryan, I have read that pitot tube diameter is not too important. Come to think of it, my tube may in fact be a 1/4. I don't remember.

All of my P/S lines and fittings are nylo-seal brand, I believe. It's all TSO'd stuff and has not given me any problems in over six years now.

I have to confess I am tempted to use poly tubing. Has anybody else used the stuff for this application? It seems to last forever supplying water to the fridge.

I went with what looked "about right", Bryan.

That would be about 6 or 7 inches exposed and about 3 or 4 inches in the base.

If I remember, I'll make a little youtube video about it next time I'm at the hangar. Hopefully this weekend.
