Mike, thanks. Yes they are way beefier than I imagined they would be, all those layers of web. Plus my drill bit wasn't even long enough to get through the 3+ inches of metal at the attach blocks. Had to drill slightly small from both ends and use my longer reamer to finish the holes. That's a lot of beef!

I used pieces of piano hinge pin through the 3 inner alignment holes to keep everything straight. Nice tight fit and a lot longer than a silver cleco!

Today I brought my blog up to date with my progress over the last several weeks. Here is my first post since the wing spar mating:

-Skinning the left wing
-Lift reserve indicator installation

I recently began building my flaps and aerobatic ailerons, but don't have any blog updates for that yet. When I have a solid opening of time and weather, I'll be able to polish my left wing skins and complete the wing.

Haha yea, crocs work great in the shop! Good padding, warm yet ventilated, and the soles don't pick up much off the floor. Mostly for the padding from all the standing around. Since I'm working in my basement I like having shoes I can slip on and off quickly when I run upstairs.

The occasional aluminum scrap that finds its way in a hole can be annoying.

Yesterday marked 100 days since I took delivery of my Waiex. To date I've logged 460 hours, or average of 4.6 hours per day, 32 hours a week, or 138 hours a month. I've completed my empennage, aft fuselage, left wing/flap/aileron and am about 40-50 hours from finishing the right wing/flap/aileron.

This project is the coolest thing I've ever done, and my zeal for it is as strong now for it as ever. I'm not trying to win any speed records, but when the thing is just a flight of stairs away, in my basement, I just don't seem to have anything better to do whenever I'm home! Too much fun.

That's amazing progress Ryan! I was averaging around 20-25 hours per week on my project and felt like I was living in my garage. You're putting me to shame! That's excellent progress and at this rate, you'll have the entire project done in no time!

Thank you for taking the time and effort to maintain your blog as well. I'm sure it will be helpful to future builders! Keep up the great work!

Wow...32 hours per week! I'm looking at my logs and it says 9.3 hours per week, and 40.3 hours per month. I've had my kit since late August 2013
