I used to lust after the cobra kit cars when I was younger. The treasurer in my old EAA chapter had built one (after his Acro II). Too bad I never got a ride in either. You always think you have more time.

I am long overdue for a project update. About the timing of my last post I started to get what seemed like seasonal allergies, then a sore throat. After a month of two different rounds of strong antibiotics I was still having a fever and sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes in my neck. Decided to go to another family practice doctor this week. Not sure what is going on but it seems more serious then a cold strep throat, etc. Donated a lot of blood yesterday for test panel work ups and results are coming in but doctor is still waiting on some more and a CAT scan of my neck/head. Wish me luck guys, hoping this is not serious.

In the meantime the project work has screeched to a halt, have only managed to make a few angles and the flap drive phenolic blocks.

And my AeroVee engine kit arrived this week, which was a positive! Mike Farley has graciously offered to help assemble my engine and work with me to document the build along with Robbie C. for a future article for the Sonex Builders Foundation!

Something to note, I have access to our commercial loading dock at work. When Mike told me the engine came in three boxes that could be lifted solo and fit into a car, I asked Sonex to send the engine to my place of business, saving the $70 residential delivery fee.

Watched the DVD again today for the assembly and am looking forward to building up my engine.

I think I will take a break from the forward fuselage (and fabrication of the remaining angle parts) to start on the engine!

Best wishes Scott! I was fighting something like that for a couple of months and they just killed it off with very strong antibiotics! Hope you find it is just a minor thing....

Completed my engine inventory this week and gathered up the necessary tools (one of which is engine enamel paint). The main case has been removed from packing, inspected, cleaned, and painted.





Mike stopped by tonight and dropped off the engine rebuild stand and ring compressor tool...so I guess it's time to start the fun!

Looks good. JC Whitney used to sell those stands I think. I drove past their warehouse today. I plan to polish my engine rather than paint.

Making some progress on the engine build. Connecting rods are connected to the crank shaft and torqued to Spec. Cam shaft gear is attached to cam shaft.
Case prep has continued and I have the main and cam bearings seated and clearanced. Oil relief plunger and springs installed. Cam shaft was a tight fit and after talking to Joe at Sonex I sanded down/clearanced the front cam bearing flanges (used 400 grit paper).

Installed the cam shaft and crank shaft into the left case half and rotated everything around to check for any interference. Everything seems fine.
