If so, can almost forgive their testosterone addled brains , driven to show off/look at me behaviour.

What excuse have the sundry second childhood (testosterone exhausted) crowd got for similar antisocial behaviour?????

You don't like my opinion, on people who seek to impose their idea of something clever/attractive, on the majority who think otherwise ??

Like it or not - this sort of lack of consideraton, for the majority of the populations comfort/feelings, may have negative consequences for those of us who love flying.

I understand that the Europeans have imposed noise limits on aircraft/airfields.

In Australia, closure of airfield is no longer surprising news - often noise pollution is one of the excuses for the action.

Aviation used to be held in high regard, by the population - now pretty much viewed, as irrelevant, all too often with disdain, why?

by the way: i have made some progress on the cockpit noise. with rainier's input (MGL avionics), i now only get the loudest noise at about 2000 RPMs and above. what seems to have helped was reducing the MIC gain to about half of what it was. i got into installing my new oil-air separator the last few days. but will be playing more with the MGL V10 transceiver to see how much more improvement i get before i go much into sound deadening installation or other stuff.

FWIW, I checked the cockpit noise in level cruise at 5300 RPM using Sound Meter. It seems to average around 90 dB. I kept forgetting to check it, and as a reminder, my batteries went out on my ANR headset. I don't know why anyone would fly without ANR.

Simple; If you fly a quite (relative) aircraft there is no need for any sort of electronic noise reduction system - it's just another expense/thing to go wrong.

My last aircraft (ATEC Zephyr) was quite in/out. In flight, I could easily hold a conversation with my passenger, without the need to use headsets.

Sonex is a whole diffrent noise maker - about the same external noise as above but much noisier internal - have to yell at my passenger, if not going through headset. I can still use a passive headset in my soundproofed Sonex but it is better, on a long trip, to use electronic noise mitigation.
