Lights

Postby Holmesryan » Fri Oct 04, 2024 11:26 pm

Hello,

Does anybody know what type of wingtip light this is and if so do you know if there is an extender. The original builder tucked them under the wing a bit and I’d like to bring them out a bit.

Thanks
Ryan

Looks like my Aeroled. Purchased mine around 2010. Newer versions are still available. I used gauge pods mounting to overcome the angle of the wingtips.

Go to thingverse website on the internet and search sonex. You can pull up a file for a 3d printed wingtip mount. Download the file and have a friend or business print up some mounts for you. They work great.

I extended my lights beyond the wing and wished I hadn't. They are always in harm's way in the hangar. Much better tucked under.

Mine are past the wingtips and level, using the 3D printed mounts. We fly at night and want them visible to aircraft above us.

Wow, that's steep! The 3D printed parts have been posted since 8/30/2017.

Out of curiosity (I don't have Nav/taxi lights), what sort of tail becon are Sonex builders fitting to their aircraft?

Originally I had Whelen Orion 600s, which have the aft facing white position light built in. One on each wingtip. So I had no tail beacon.

But then to add ADS-B out, I added a uAvionix tailbeacon.
