Good turnout. Had no idea there would be so many people. The cold and snow must be a big draw.

I liked Kerry Fores before, from tech support email & phone calls. Plus his videos. I like him better now - boy is he funny. He is talking during the hangar flying session tonight.

Nice turnout! Any updates on the Aerovee turbo?

Just a little. They hope to have it offered by Oshkosh this year. It is a pull through system with an aerocarb upstream of the turbo. The initial installation was only good for a Sonex or Waiex taildragger. They developed the package to allow for nosedraggers and the Onex. The weight delta is 16 lbs.

This is what we built in the workshop. A bunch of us had the staff sign our art.

For me it was worth it. Financially I came out ahead as it was a 3 hour drive for me and a couple nights in a hotel. You are not going to learn a lot about building based on where you are on your project. Here was what I learned:
1) I am buying two speed deburring tools. Wish I had 20 years ago.
2) I am buying a good, new vixen file. The ones I have are shot.
3) Kerry's discussion on using the plans was good.
4) I sat in a bunch of airplanes. I am happy with my decision to go with 2 sticks. I will be doing the sport trainer mod - throttle, trim, flaps and brakes all in the middle.
5) The attendees were a great bunch of folks.
6) The staff were a great bunch of folks
7) I learned more about the history of the engine and airframe.

I did not bring my son. In hindsight that would have been a lot for a 12 year old to sit through.

What are two speed deburring tools? I always used the deburrer with the blue handle but am always interested in new tools and techniques.

I think he means a second tool. Kind of like cleco pliers, if you only have one, it's always just out of reach. With 2 tools, deburring can be a social event!

New, good quality vixen files are amazing. I had bought a cheapo one off Amazon at first... it worked ok, just took a lot of effort. I finally bought a quality one from Wicks, and WOW. It took more material off in 1 stroke than the cheapo file did in 10. You have to treat it gently and be sure never to run it backwards in order to keep the sharp edges.
