I've never been to one and keep trying to get up there for a workshop. I'd like to make it to this upcoming one but I won't know until closer to time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Maybe? I feel like there is not much I would learn though from a workshop now...already had the factory tour and my tail section and wings are almost complete...

But it would be an opportunity to exchange parts (for a tail dragger) without the shipping costs :twisted:

I've been to three of them. Kerry said if I came again I would have to give one of the presentations. Seriously, I have learned something new each time but I will not go in March.

The main draw for me is the $1000 store credit that you get after completing the class, if you bought the machined angle kit and prebuilt spars.

From the tool list, it appears Sonex supplies clecoes for the workshop. Does this sound right? If anybody needs cleco pliers, I am the cleco plier king and would sell some very reasonably. I am looking forward to the trip.

Enjoy, and let me know if the trip and class is "worth it", other than the store credit. I just bought the AeroVee engine on special so another $400 credit would help me but the trip would cost more than that from Central Ohio.

I took the trip before I started my second hand Waiex kit. Yes. Definitely worth it. For the tools to bring, technically none. You will be building at a group table and can borrow any tools from the others if you have the right personality. If you don't, then follow their recommendations.

I didn't bring any tools to the workshop I went to last October, and the nice folks around me let me borrow what I needed. Clecos and rivets are provided.

I think it's definitely worth it, but I went as a first time builder before ever having pulled a rivet in my life. Going to the workshop and completing the sample part is what enabled me to feel confident that I could accomplish the project, so I bought a kit. I considered the extra $ I spent on travel as due diligence!

I agree with going if you've never done this before! I previously built a Factory Five 65 Cobra replica...and before starting that project went to their 3-day sponsored build school, and felt it was worth it to gain the confidence to finish. I have already completed my tail section, both wings and am well into the aft fuselage side panels...so I don't think this class would offer me much other than "camaraderie" and seeing the factory again (already made a trip there to do my due diligence before ordering the kit).

Anyways maybe we will go in June...this months schedule and winter weather unpredictableness (sp?) is why we are not going this weekend!
