If you leave before the end of the show, you get a refund when you exit Camp Scholler and turn in your camping credentials. That's the only way they can make sure if you're in Scholler, that you've paid for that day. So it is definitely $28/night and they guarantee camping.

So I should just show up with a tent and there will be space for $28/night? I just might be far from the gate? I can work with that. I was planning on early in the week so it should not be too full right away.

I have always pre-purchased all my oshkosh stuff. The camp sites are not marked off and you kinda just find a place and set up. I believe they give you 30x30 as a baseline of what they want you setting up your camp. You will definitely have neighbors all around you. Go and have an amazing time I promise you won’t regret it.

Go, have fun, make a lot of new friends, and immerse yourself in a unique aviation experience.

But….early in the week it will be packed, more so than late in the week….

Please join us at the BBQ on Wednesday evening!

The campground has grown a lot in the last 40 years. the strategy is not how close you get to the gate but how close to the bus route! The camp ground is huge and you will need transportation to get around. Find a spot to set up camp and enjoy the show, you will learn through experience for next time. But no matter where you are, this is the greatest aviation event you will ever see. Enjoy and learn lots.

Sure is a good thing that I enjoy driving. I am flying into Chicago on Tuesday, getting a car there and driving to Oshkosh from there. I should arrive about 3pm and I will be there until Friday around noon so that I can make my 5pm flight out of Chicago. I will find a Walmart somewhere in between for a tent, sleeping bag and cooler to fill with cold tasty beverages. Anything else that you think I could use other than maybe a used bike if I can spot one?

Go here

There is no formal ride assistance, but other Sonex Builders and Pilots are going so it’s not too hard to find a ride. Uber is also an option.
