Landing Light Decal

Postby epvans » Sat Dec 05, 2020 1:03 pm

I wonder if anyone out there has used a decal of a landing light. What happened to me is that I had some leading edge tape that had become tainted over a few years, I removed the tape and in the process I pulled two 1/4 to dollar size pieces of paint off the wing leading edge, Interestingly almost one the same spot on both wings. DANG!!!!. I got hold of the paint guys and he said though he could fix it, it may not be a perfect match as this would be a field repair and not a shop repair.
So long story short. if I could find a decal of a landing light, I could fudge it and place the stickers over the problem areas. As it is a VFR day only plane, functionality is not a concern.

If you guys have any better ideas I am all ears.

Thanks

Peter

How about some type of decorative wrap. Lots of options.

Or maybe some vinyl print of the inside of the wing, so it looks like a big gap. I have seen a few paint and vinyl jobs that made it look like you could see inside the airplane or engine. Always a conversation starter!

What about installing a proper landing light? Usefull to have when flying in a busy pattern during daytime.

I have seen a plane with machine gun decals on the wings.

I am planning some kind of decal, but!!! it needs to blend and not look out of place. Thanks for the replies, will keep looking to see what my options are.

Merry Christmas to you all.
