I'm having trouble with static in my flightline 760 radio. Any suggestions?

I have the same radio and had the same problem. My static was only above 2200 RPM and nothing seemed to help. This was with an AeroVee. I am converting to a Jabiru 3300 so we will see if it helps.

What engine do you have and what have you tried to reduce the noise? Is it constant or only above a certain RPM?

Ok, there are several threads on the best methods to address noise. Where is the filter, and what kind is it? Typically an RC filter is the best method - the AeroElectric guide has some great info on where to install it.

If it varies with RPM, it may be ignition noise. If not, it could be from an EFIS or ripple on the DC power.

One suggestion is to take up a handheld radio and see if the noise is in the handheld. If it is, it is likely ignition noise. If the noise is only in the FlightCom then I would start looking at other sources, particularly an EFIS. (Try shutting the EFIS off to see if the noise is gone)

I had an issue with noise on my radio. After moving the antenna and chasing down other expensive remedies I was unplugging my iPad and other items charging in the USB adapter in the cigarette lighter plug and the noise went away. I purchased a better adapter and problem solved.

To Dana's point, a friend of mine discovered the same thing when he had his tablet plugged into the USB charger.

Stratux recommend's this brand, and it happens to be on sale today:

I have this inexpensive panel mounted USB outlet from Sporty's and have had no problems with my iPhone and/or my iPad mini plugged in.
