Looking good, Bryan!

Be sure to oversize the holes in the canopy. That's kept me crack-free with two different canopies.

Also, if you ever have to fit a second canopy, you'll miss the luxury of having the wings out of the way of the ratchet strap...incentive to get it right the first time:)

Thanks Kip! What size do you recommend? I am still struggling with how to mate the canopy and frame, and have it all line up.

I can't say that I have exact dimensions, Bryan. However, I can turn the nyloc nut on many of these fasteners and they will spin in my fingers with a little effort. That's a statement of torque application, too:)

We have made our first few cuts. So far, so good. We drilled a hole to pick up the center bow screw as the masking tape could not hold the canopy down.

Hi Bryan
I used cloth gaffer tape for that, I found it worked better than masking tape. If you're careful, a flap disc in a 4" angle grinder is a handy tool for perspex trimming. Still need to block sand and polish after.

Back to the canopy. We were paused for a few weeks - family visits at Thanksgiving, plus Adam's latest science Olympiad project. He has made a mousetrap powered car which has to go forward 3 meters, then back some specified distance between 4 and 7 meters.

Here is a video of trimming the canopy with a belt sander:

I think we have all our initial trimming done.

It is starting to look like an airplane.

We left the aft part of the windscreen untrimmed at the bottom. Looks like we have avoided the bottleneck look.

Looks great! Hopefully it's a job you'll only have to do once;)

Looks good Bryan...it took me lots of patience and persistence which you've already demonstrated in your Photo album/building log. You'll be flying this coming summer!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Here Adam is drilling the left square tube for the #8 flush screws that hold the hook angle.

Next I've clamped the right side hinge in place.

Hinge is riveted in the background. Hook angle and frame fitted in the foreground.
