Preferred method for Switch Anti-Rotation?

Postby NWade » Fri Sep 29, 2017 12:58 pm

Hi All,

As I wrap up my panel construction, I'm wondering about which method to use to ensure my switches don't rotate in the panel over time. Given the thin instrument panel material for the Sonex, I'm not happy about the prospect of drilling extra holes all the way through for anti-rotation tabs/washers.

Has anyone found success just using lock-washers in such a high-vibration environment? Is there another method you used?

Would love to hear about it (and document it on the forums for posterity)!

Thanks,

I like the anti-rotation washers. I do have some switches that I just torqued down good though. Not hard to retighten if needed.

That's what I did. It was about $30 to have a place on the web make this subpanel for me (including the aluminum, machining, black anodize and painted letters - they even have a free cad app that just makes these panels):

No "on" and "off" markings? My inspector insisted on having them.

Excellent! That is a very "sanitary" looking subpanel you have there. Nice job.

Nice work. Who ‘on the web’ did it for you?

It is pretty slick - you use their app and it will price it and ship it straight from the app. It showed up a week after I clicked buy. To keep the price low choose a thinish thickness on the aluminum and just have them drill the holes to #40 (then you updrill at home to the final size)
