Aircraft lift

Postby Bryan Cotton » Fri Nov 25, 2016 11:22 pm

Hey guys,
Has anybody built an aircraft lift for their Sonex? The commercial lifts seem like overkill for our under 700# airframes. It seems a two post car lift could be adapted as a Waiex lift. Or, something new could be engineered. I am looking for an alternative to finding a new, smaller renter.

Not sure if this is what you are after Bryan, but this one was made from left-over junk so effectively cost nothing. It's very stable and could be made more compact by having removable handles.

I have only needed to use it a few times.

Peter,
I have one similar we used when rigging the wings. I think we will use it again when doing the brakes. No way will the C182 fit under there though!

Steve,
One of the neighbors has a similar one. It is a clever design.

I use the KISS lift. It is a 2" x 4" that spans the fuselage at the landing gear and a floor jack in the center to lift the plane. Works great for me.

Oops, sorry. Didn't realize you meant a storage lift. I think your main problem is that the usual commercial lifts are designed for tri-gear aircraft.

Peter,
I think I was not very clear, but yes I am looking for a storage lift.
