Bryan, they might be hidden but I don't see lighting wires hanging out the ribs. be sure you run those before you rivet the leading edge. =)

Ryan,
I plan to rivet the top leading edge then run the conduits. Then the ribs are not all floppy.

Bryan

Your mileage may vary, but I found that when I ran the tubing and wires first, it actually made the entire assembly more stable and easier to manipulate. I also was able to work the tubing through much easier.

Adam and I riveted up the top wing skin today!

Here is the normal speed video:

Time lapse to follow when Adam uploads it.

Here we have flipped the wing over. Putting the conduit in at this point worked great. About one or two minutes per conduit.

Mounted up my aileron and flap tonight for a trail fit. Had a couple small interferences. Had to open up the hole for the aileron counterweight and slightly relieve the flap hole so the control horn wouldn't hit.

I decided to paint the inside bay of the landing light black. Maybe the next one I will do before I rivet anything.

I need my chief riveter. I should be getting plywood to build a wing stand tonight.

So the big news for today was Adam got his braces off:

Though he was adjusting to the loss of mass in his head, we went to the hangar anyway.

Placing rivets:Image

Oh yeah- the other big news. We have a left wing!Image

I liked that touch of the cup on the wing in the earlier photo - the sign of a work in progress. Sure, you've got a wing, but you'll miss that coffee table.

Hi Bryan,
Looks great! You two are really making progress! Keep up the pace! You may make Oshkosh 2016!

Peter,
I have plans for other places to store the cup. I have to finish my Hummelbird after the Waiex, then I have Skybolt plans. Coffee is key! Michael, I plan to be at Oshkosh this year and our stretch goal was to fly the Waiex there. Realistically I don't think the Waiex will make it. I still have to build the right wing, wing rigging, canopy, cowl, controls, panel, and those are just the big things. Our goal is to fly this year though!
