Idler. I am done with page F10, now I just have to install all this stuff.
The plans called out paper shims if there was too much pressure on the idler. I used aluminum paper (.010" flashing), hope that is ok.

Here is my tailspring autoclave. I am going to use epoxy to take up the slop of the fit of the Ti rod in the mount.

My maingear fit beautifully in the engine mount. There is a tiny bit of play in both axles, so I think I will bond them too.

Bryan,I just smack d myself in the forehead after seeing your pic of the aft lower cabin details. I did all of that work inside the upside down fuselage. Your way is much easier.

If it makes you feel any better, my head is still full of lumps from those darn clecoes hanging down from the spar tunnel!

Bonding the tail spring in went well. Did it this AM.

If I ever become wealthy I will have a big autoclave and make stuff out of honeycomb and prepreg CF, like we used to where I worked. It is good stuff!

Here the aft lower cockpit details are stuck in by friction. The holes line up nicely. This is an assembly where the CNC holes are awesome. If I was going to do one thing over, I wish I had not drilled and riveted in the seat belt mounts on the side panels yet. Apparently I suck at measuring and locating things. I will post in the plans forum later. I will need a tapered shim.

Here I have located the idler assembly, clamped it, and am about to start drilling. I lost my trim spring angle bracket and will need to make one.

Here is a follow up to the sonex plans F-12 post I made. Here is my poorly located seatbelt angle making a tapered gap:

I wish I had not drilled in the seatbelt attach angle until now. It would have been perfectly located by all the other CNC holes.

Here I am pilot drilling the axle for the cotter pin. Sadly the drill broke off inside the axle.

Happily it was almost out. My vision is no longer good enough to tell for sure, but I was dremeling off a thread to drill from the other side and I uncovered the drill tip. Was able to pin punch it out.

I think on the next axle I will drill in from both sides. I also think I will put another set of holes so I can turn the nut a little bit and still get a cotter pin in.
