Starting this off trying to find as much info about vw engine modification for flight application and how different it is in comparison to vw racing engines… i.e is there no turning back once a case and all has been modified or could one use them interchangeable?
Would a turbo set of duals for a 2000cc car application work after it’s been used in a bird.
There has to be some type of cooling issue I’d imagine
Also if these a/c (aircraft) versions would work in a car would this one (picture provided below) be worth it if it checks out for 1,500 usd weighing in at 2000cc?

I believe it very well could be. The seller does have a gyroplane listed.

That does not look like a VW Type 1 case. So I guess the first question is, what is it?

Concur, it's a Type IV. And the nose of the "Fan" end of that crank has a short, steep taper that makes it unsuitable for a prop hub attachment. Steve Bennett of Great Plains tried to make this engine work and an internet acquaintance of mine put one in his KR-2 and it almost killed him. Steve stopped cataloging parts for Type IV engines. You MIGHT be able to make this engine work as a flywheel drive, but the aluminum case is substantially heavier than a Type I, so why bother?

As I've said for decades, if you think the airframe you want to use needs more than about 70 - 80 continuous horsepower, you should be looking at some other engine.

I think he wants to buy that motor and put it in a car.

That would be a correct statement Bryan.
