Hi all hope your all doing well. With the current 100LL fuel shortage going on. It makes me wonder how many people are running mogas in the jabiru engines? Opinions seem to vary substantially when it comes to this. So, I thought I’d ask here and see what your thoughts are and for those of you who do use mogas, what are do we need to watch out for.
What are the pros and cons of using mogas vs Avgas if any.

Not a Jab pilot however my local flying club/school, is all Jab aircraft/engines and they use exclusively 98 RON unleaded auto fuel and have been doing so for very many years without any ill effect.

Not sure if it translates, but every certified airplane I've ever owned came with, or I acquired, an auto fuel STC. Used non-alcohol fuel almost exclusively except when traveling cross-country.

I only ever had trouble when burning 100LL. Stuck valves don't you know.

Aerovees are very happy with car gas. At least, mine was.

Just a small stipulation here is that mogas in Australia doesn't include alcohol unless it specifically says so. I don't know if that's the case in Canada. I think some early Gen 1 Jabiru engines weren't suitable for mogas. (Might be wrong on that though.)

Good morning. Just wanted to say thanks for the replies on this. Looks like where I live the highest octane level is 93 to 94. Shell sells a shell v-power but from what I’ve found it’s a 91 octane.

Looks like I’ll give it a shot and find the highest level to use. Again thanks for the replies.

Each country has a variation on how to measure petrol octane.

It may help to look at the Rotax recommended octane for your country (Australia its a minimum of 95 RON)
