Jabiru 3300 alternator Kubota part number?

Postby Sonex1517 » Sat May 01, 2021 4:57 pm

Does anyone know the Kubota part number for a direct replacement for the alternator (stators) in a 3300. I know it is a Kubota part but cannot find the number.

In the spirit of sharing so others learn…..

I had never installed a fuse or circuit protection for my alternator on the 3300. When I made my first flight with the new voltage regulator after my engine was reinstalled, my RPM worked briefly, then dropped off and stayed at zero. I had the RPM pickup off the new voltage regulator.

I have no idea what happened, and probably never will, but the stators on the alternator fried. Badly.

I called B and C and they asked me to send the voltage regulator back so they can look at it, and I will. I want to emphasize this is my fault - had I installed the circuit protection that is in their wiring diagram, I would not have had this issue. You can bet I am installing it now.

I have two new stator assemblies on order but they have to come from Australia so it will be a while.

If you didn't have bad luck, you'd have no luck at all!
I replaced my VR with a bonified Kubota one. No issues. Tempted for the B&C but right now, don't have a reason to.

I’d like to say that’s true John, but this one is all on me. I should have put in the circuit protection and failed to do so.

I’ll send the regulator back and report what I hear. All my interaction with B & C tells me they are a great company with excellent customer service.

Hi Robbie

Do you know the nature of the problem that fried your alternator, for which the cb/fuse would have saved it? Just trying to understand what happened.

Thanks, Gordon
