Engine mount torque

Postby grayson.colby » Tue May 08, 2018 11:13 am

I am building a 3300 powered Sonex. I managed to buy this nearly completed kit and I'm excited to finish it. I looked through the Jabiru install manual and maintenance manual and I can't find a torque spec for the rubber engine mount bolts. The closest thing I've found is that it calls to tighten the nuts until firm in the install manual. The maintenance manual calls for reoccurring torque checks, but no torque value listed. Is this right? Does anyone have any insight on this?

Those bolts are tightened to fully compress the rubber bushing to point where the assembly bottoms out with end washer tight against the tube that is part of the engine mount. after that, just tighten to normal recommendation for 1/4" aircraft bolts. I assume you have noted that the nuts should be the steel locking type, not nylon insert type.

Thanks David. I just wanted to confirm this. I tightened them to that point, but stopped until I could find a torque spec. I do have the correct hardware.
