Lower CHTs - Aerovee is 20!

In an article in the Kitplanes newsletter I found an interesting statement:

To suit the cosmetics of the Flitzer, Rupert polished the characteristic red anodizing off the AeroVee’s intake elbows and found his CHTs dropped by 50° F.

I noticed that too. Pretty incredible statement. I can’t believe it, absent at least a summary of their testing methods. Were all other factors constant?
