Yes it is a lot of masking but it just made me feel better to see it shiny. I painted the back, under the flywheel, but next time I won't since it's covered by the accessory case. I used Ace aviation aluminum color heat resistant, good up to 800 constantly. See page 9 of my photo album. I'll let you know how it holds up next year after flying for a while.
