Aerovee oil Temps

I finally have the new heads on, and just about ready to fly. Did an engine run today without the cowl. OAT was 50°F, and it probably took 20 minutes for the oil to warm up to 80°. I was just skimming through the POH, and it says that “Excessive ground run-up should be avoided. Run-up should not exceed 10 minutes duration.” Are they talking about full-throttle run-ups, or any throttle setting?

In most cases, that’s to prevent the cylinder heads from getting too warm and causing issues. If you need to idle your engine for a while and your cylinder heads don’t get too hot, you should be fine!
